Due to current budget deficits, the County of Santa Cruz has suspended funding for the Home Composting Program. County sponsored workshops, Master Composter trainings, and information booths will no longer be offered.
As a convenience to the public, composting workshops and classes offered by other entities will be posted on this site as they are known. The County of Santa Cruz makes no claims, guarantees or endorsements regarding any events listed here.

Free Composting Workshops in July!
These workshops will discuss the principles of composting kitchen and yard wastes using backyard bins and vermicomposting (worm composting) techniques. You will learn how composting will improve your soil and aid in the health of your plants and vegetables, as well as reducing waste going to the landfill. Hands-on workshops are led by a Certified Master Composter and Master Gardener and sponsored by the County of Santa Cruz Public Works Department.
Workshops will be held Sunday, July 23, 1-3 PM at the Quail Hollow Ranch County Park in Felton, and on Saturday, July 29, 10 AM - noon at the Live Oak Grange, Santa Cruz. Spanish interpretation will be available at the Grange location.
Upon completion of the workshop, attendees are eligible for free or discount composting bins, depending on your city of residence.
