Business Waste Reduction Assistance
Many local businesses underutilize the waste reduction services to which they are entitled, and sometimes pay more for disposal than necessary. In fact, state law (AB 341 of 2011) requires businesses to recycle, and County ordinance bans throwing recyclable materials in the trash. The franchised waste hauler offers recycling collection to its customers, and other services at nominal fees. In addition, the County has extensive waste diversion opportunities at its facilities.
Many businesses that want to take full advantage of these and other environmentally friendly services apply for certification under the Monterey Bay Area Green Business Program and become recognized as leaders in sustainability.
For more information about waste reduction opportunities for businesses, contact the County's Recycling & Solid Waste Services.
