The County has procured the services of a civil engineering consultant, Dokken Engineering, to complete the design for the repair to Nelson Road. They have recently completed necessary field work and are currently in the process of preparing the preliminary roadway alignment and associated drainage and structural improvements. The project is currently scheduled to be constructed in the summer of 2014.

The geologist has completed the large diameter boring investigation and will start the small diameter boring investigation as planned on Tuesday, July 5, 2011. We ask that the areas of work designated by the white spray paint and access to those areas remain unobstructed.

The geologist will be performing the large diameter borings from Tuesday, June 28, 2011 through Thursday, June 30, 2011 from 8:30am to 4:30 am daily. The small diameter borings will occur Tuesday, July 5, 2011 through Friday, July 8, 2011 from 8:30am to 4:30pm daily. We anticipate that these operations will have minimal impacts to road access. The areas of work have been marked with white spray paint.

The community meeting tentatively scheduled for Tuesday, May 10, 2011, has been cancelled. The County has no new information to present at this time.

The temporary bypass road requires some minor adjustments. This work will start on Wednesday, May 4, 2011, between the hours of 8:30 am and 5:00 pm and is expected to take 5 days. Please be prepared for delays of up to 10 minutes. The work includes widening the temporary bypass road at several locations, protecting the existing culvert, fixing potholes and installing a road bump on Eclectia driveway near the well. The paving work will require a temporary closure of the bypass road from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm on Monday, May 9, 2011.

The trash bin and recycling bin have been relocated onto Nelson Rd near the cluster of mailboxes just north of the temporary detour road.

The temporary detour road was completed on Saturday, 4/2/11 and was open to traffic. The load limit is 5 tons except for emergency vehicles and propane trucks.

The construction crews have been working extremely hard in constructing the temporary road; however, their progress has been slowed because of some extremely wet areas near the creek. Therefore the completion of the temporary road has been rescheduled to the afternoon of Saturday, 4/2/11
